Licence (PPL)
Take the first steps on your journey to getting your commercial pilots licence by training for your Private Pilot Licence (PPL) with Aeros Flight Training courses.
Private Pilot Licence Overview
Whether you’re looking to learn to fly for your own pleasure and enjoyment, or you’re looking to take the first step onto the journey of becoming a fully qualified commercial pilot the Private Pilot Licence is where you need to start your pilot training journey.
Our Private Pilot Licence (PPL) Training Course is designed to meet all the requirements for you to sit your theory exams and practical skill test to become fully rated to fly Single Engine Piston aircraft. You will then be able to add further ratings to your license such as Night, Multi-Engine, IR (R) etc as you build your experience to becoming a more competent private pilot.
As one of the leading Flight Training academies in the UK, Aeros' Private Pilot Licence (PPL) training courses are designed to allow you to pass your tests with the minimum amount of fuss.
We work with you at every stage of your learning journey. From helping you gain your Medical Clearance from a CAA approved Aero-medical examiner, to working with our team of specialist flight trainers who will take you into the air to get the minimum required 45 hours of flying time during which you will head up for at least 10 hours’ worth of solo flying to get you used to flying without an instructor in the aircraft.
During your flight training you will need to sit down and take 9 theory examinations covering all the major topics needed to properly understand the theory behind flying an aeroplane. These topics include:
-
Aviation Law
-
Human Performance
-
Meteorology
-
Communications
-
Principles of Flight
-
Operational Procedures
-
Flight Performance & Planning
-
Aircraft General Knowledge
-
Navigation
As part of your PPL Training, we will ensure that you score well above the 75% target to pass all of your theory tests, so that you can take to the skies on your own, with the knowledge required to fly safely.
What Does Our PPL Training Look Like?
Who can get a Private Pilot Licence (PPL)?
Anyone can get a Private Pilot Licence (PPL).
All you need to do is make sure that you’re healthy enough to fly by getting a Class 2 (Private Pilot) medical Certificate from a CAA authorised Medical Examiner.
If you want to find a CAA Authorised examiner then get in touch with us and we’d be happy to help you arrange a medical check, or you can find your local CAA Medical Examiner here.
No extra qualifications are needed not even a university degree. All that's needed are some GCSE's and for the student to be a fluent English speaker.
Once you’ve acquired your PPL Licence you’ll be qualified to fly Single Engine Piston ( SEP) Aircraft.
SEP’s are some of the most common aircrafts flown by private individuals, and will give you the freedom to take to the skies!
If you’re looking to be qualified in other forms of aircraft, or to expound the type of conditions you’re allow to fly in you may want to look at acquiring your Night Rating, or your Multi Engine Piston ratings.
If you’re looking to be able to fly in other countries, the PPL is accepted as a valid licence across the EU and the UK, and can easily be converted into licence in other countries such as the USA.

PPL TKI
Private Pilot Licence - Theoretical Knowledge Instruction
As part of the application for a private license, you will need to take and pass exams in the following subject areas: air law, human performance, meteorology, communications, navigation, principles of flight, operational procedures, flight performance and planning and aircraft general knowledge.
Some students prefer to self-study by themselves prior to taking their exams, however, we know from experience that some subject areas can be quite complicated and you may want personalised help from one of our TKI instructors.
We have designed bespoke 1:1 instructor training for internal and external PPL students to help you master the information in each subject area. This can be completed remotely (via video) or in person at our Gloucester HQ.
You can work directly with an Instructor to decide what subjects you need help with, and figure out how much 1:1 instruction you might need to get to the level of TKI knowledge you need with support and at a price that works for you.
